Diamondbacks stay alive in Tri-County

CLOVIS — Brandon Adkins’ grand slam highlighted a seven-run fifth-inning as the Roosevelt County Diamondbacks stayed alive in the Tri-County Major league tournament Thursday with a 12-7 win over the American Yankees.
The teams meet again at 7 p.m. at Rotary Park in Portales in the championship game of the double-elimination tournament.
Lucas Walters, Lane Drake and Mario Posadas all collected two hits for the Yankees, who led 7-3 after three innings.
Posadas started and took the loss for the Yankees.
