Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.
Mrs. Maxine Copeland, 86, of Lubbock, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Garrison Geriatric Care Center in Lubbock.
She was born on April 27, 1917, in Thalia, Texas, to Mattie and Isaac Gray.
Her mother died when she was 2 years old. She was cared for by her father, older siblings, grandparents and aunts and uncles. She graduated from Rogers High School. She married Jack Copeland on May 23, 1937, in Portales. She drove a school bus and cooked in the school cafeterias at Causey and Dora.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Cricket, Jack, Marvin and Stephen Gray; three sisters, Opal, Alta and Virgie; and her husband.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Copeland of Lubbock; three daughters, JoAnn McCall (and husband, Lynn) of Kathleen, Ga., Wilma Pollard (and husband, Howard) and Pat Crimmins, all of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Shonnie Crimmins Collier (and husband, Ken), Mark Pollard (and wife, Rachel), Randy Crimmins (and wife, Kim), Bryan Pollard, Regina Campbell Jacobs (and husband, Michael), Jerrod Copeland and Renae Campbell; 16 great-grandchildren, Aaron and Landon Collier, Kaleigh Justin Crimmins, Will, Calli, Baley, Shaley and Desiree Pollard, Jessica and Chase Copeland, Kayla and Christopher Jacobs, Sidney Lang and Monica and Heather Bolding; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will be at Causey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Crimmins, Ken and Aaron Collier, Bryan and Mark Pollard and Jerrod Copeland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Causey Cemetery Association or the Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center, 2710 4th St., Lubbock, TX 79415.
