By Tony Parra

Portales residents of all ages will have an opportunity to celebrate the new year with others from around the area, the only question being how far are they willing to travel to celebrate.
For those wanting to stay in Portales for the festivities, the Victory Life Christian Church will have two different gatherings after the services. The services will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. followed by activities for the teens and children from 8:30-10 p.m.
As for the adults, the Victory Life Christian Coffee House will hold a gathering from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. The Victory Life Christian Coffee House opened its business in March and this will be the first year hosting a New Year’s celebration.
There will be karaoke music and participants can purchase food and non-alcoholic drinks from the coffee shop.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s going to be a family atmosphere,” Victory Life Christian Pastor David Markham said. “It’s going to be clean fun with no alcohol and it’s open to the public.”
