Roosevelt County officials met for a brief special session on Thursday afternoon in the courthouse to talk about the election year.
Roosevelt County Clerk Joyce Fraze proposed resolution requesting approval for purchase of four voting machines, which will cost $6,200 apiece, to replace the old ones. Fraze said there was money in the county clerk’s budget for the new voting machines and that the old voting machines are worn out. The resolution was unanimously approved. The plan is to have the costs of the voting machines reimbursed by the federal government.
Fraze also said that the county is looking to purchase the voting machines within the next two weeks.
The next regular commission meeting is scheduled for Feb. 10 at 9 a.m.
