DORA — Aaron and Jevon Hunter combined for 51 points Monday night, leading visiting Gateway Christian to a 72-67 win over the Dora Coyotes.
Aaron Hunter tallied a game-high 36 for the Warriors, with Jevon Hunter adding 15. The Warriors were able to use a pressure defense early and mount a 31-25 lead at the half.
“Overall, we played pretty well,” Dora coach Ty Thatcher said. “We shot 19-of-25 from the free-throw line — that helped.”
The Coyotes played without Brent Hays, who missed the game with the flu. J.R. Gonzales scored 21 to lead three in double figures for Dora (3-14, 1-3), which plays tonight at Elida.
The Dora junior varsity hosted Tatum in the early game, winning 59-51. Dora is going to Tatum Monday night to make up a game that was postponed due to weather.
