Florence Mildred Grubelnik, 83
Florence Mildred “Mickey” Grubelnik, 83, of Raton died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Miners’ Colfax Medical Center in Raton.
She was born on Nov. 28, 1920, to Ethel Mae and William L. Turner.
She was a member of the First Christian Church. Family members said she enjoyed hunting and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. “Pug” Grubelnik; her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Jean Grubelnik Hopper; a brother; and three sisters.
Survivors include a son, Robert Carl “Skip” Grubelnik (and wife, Pat) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Kevin Grubelnik (Sandy) of Colorado Springs, Brian Grubelnik (Pollyann) of Nashville, Tenn., Chanin Grubelnik Wilson (Herb) of Westminster, Colo., and Janice Hopper Stroud (David) of Portales; nine great-grandchildren, Nicole, Charleeann, Michael, Zachary, Alexander, Brandon, Regan, Shania and Maegan; a son-in-law, Melvin “Sonny” Hopper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Mike Hensley will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Raton.
Arrangements are by Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Yaksich-Long Funeral Home chapel in Raton.
Kay Johnston, 59
Kay Johnston, 59, of Portales died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center in Clovis.
She was born on Nov. 3, 1944, in Tucumcari to Louise and Bill Johnston.
Her family moved to Portales from Levelland, Texas, in 1959. While she was in school, she worked at the sale barn that her father owned. She graduated from Portales High School in 1963. She attended Eastern New Mexico University for two years before beginning her career at Portales National Bank. She retired in 1996 as an assistant vice president. She then worked as a caretaker for Mary Louise Akers. She was a member of the Victory Life Church in Portales.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a brother, Bob Johnston (and wife, Diane) of Cloudcroft; a sister, Sue Gray (Birl) of Portales; 11 nieces and nephews, Ricky and Randy Bouldin, Tana Duncan, Neil Gray, Rena Payton, Jena, Jaralee and Jordan Johnston and Sara, Amy and and Will Archibeque; and five great-nieces and nephews, Jason Queener, Ty and Kyle Duncan and Bennett and Lauren Bouldin.
The Rev. David Markham will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ricky and Randy Bouldin, Bowie and Burwin Howard, Jamie Cooper and Kenny Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are the employees of Portales National Bank.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.
Antonia Naylor, 56
Antonia “Toni” Marie Armijo Naylor, 56, of Portales died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1947, in Clovis to Lucrecio and Josie Salazar Armijo.
She married John A. Naylor on Nov. 12, 1968, in Roswell. She lived in Clovis for most of her life and then she moved to the Portales area in 1995. Family members said the love of her life was her grandchildren and family. She was a member of Living Faith Church in Portales.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Lee Armijo.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John V. Naylor (and wife, Amy) of Portales and Andrew Naylor of Portales; a daughter, Luceresia Ritchie (Ray) of Nampa, Idaho; a brother, Felix Armijo (Dolores) of Clovis; four sisters, Gloria Regalado (Adam) of Clovis, Cordie Vargas of Farwell, and June Sandoval (Leo Sena) and Irene Maes, all of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Adrianna Naylor of Portales and Christopher Ritchie of Nampa.
The Rev. Darl Badgerow will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Joseph and Jimmy Sandoval, Jacob Rodriguez, Richard Vargas, Donald Reed, Jerry Armijo and Christopher Ritchie.
Honorary pallbearers are her nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton in Clovis.
