Outside of Patricia Gallegos and Andrea Curry, Portales blanked Clovis in a boys and girls dual meet Thursday at the Bill Wahlman Tennis Complex.
Gallegos downed Hailey Quick 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 singles while Curry needed a pair of tiebreakers to beat Rachelle Self 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles match.
Quick and Self earned a measure of revenge in doubles, downing their Clovis counterparts 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 as Portales beat the Lady Wildcats 7-2.
In the boys match, Portales didn’t lose a set in a 9-0 win.

Boys finish fourth, girls third
ROSWELL — Kevin Welch shot a 73 for seventh place, and had three teammates shoot below 80 for the day, but it was only enough to manage a tie for fourth place Thursday at New Mexico Military Institute.
The host Colts lost out on a tiebreaker to Goddard, with both teams shooting 295, for the team title. The Rams shot 309, in a tie with Clovis and eight strokes behind third-place Carlsbad.
“ That’s a really good score for us,” Portales boys coach Greg Poynor said. “We took four scores in the 70s. That’s kind of our goal. It’s hard to beat a really good team on their home course.”
Chris Adkins shot 78, Dale Welch and Matt Parkey a 79 and Trevor Ferguson a score of 86 for the Rams.
The girls placed third in the tournament, led by a fourth-place score of 81 from senior Cassidy Merrick. The team score was 378 for Portales, placing the Lady Rams in the middle of a five-team competition behind Goddard (328) and Carlsbad (345) but in front of Lovington (383) and Clovis (386).
Roni Gomez shot a 94, Michelle Miller 98, Oma Creighton 105 and Ciara Price 118 for Portales.
