FLOYD — The Floyd Lady Broncos had to go the distance Tuesday night to beat House 24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 15-5 in a non-district volleyball match.
Senior Noel Carpenter had nine kills and junior Carly Dement added seven blocks for Floyd (4-6), which had beaten House in three games on Friday in a tournament at Roy.
“I thought we came out kind of slow and tentative,” Floyd coach Sean Wootton said. “It took us a while to get going, but I thought we played well in that last game.”
The Lady Broncos have been a busy bunch lately. They went 1-2 in the tournament at Roy, losing on Saturday to Clayton in three games and House in five.
On Monday, they began District 3-1A action with a three-game loss at Dora. Those teams meet again next Monday at Floyd.
Before that, Floyd travels to Fort Sumner on Friday night in a district matchup.
Floyd won Tuesday’s preliminary matchup, taking a junior high contest from the Cowgirls 25-21, 20-25, 15-10.
