Jose Campos kept his spot as a state representative in District 63 on Tuesday, trouncing Republican challenger Russell Grider by almost 1,000 votes.
Campos, D-Santa Rosa, garnered 57 percent of the votes. Grider, R-Clovis, did well in Curry and Roosevelt counties but did poorly in De Baca and Guadalupe counties.
Grider was ahead 621-559 in Roosevelt County while early votes were still being counted. He lost to Campos in Curry County, but only 1,634 votes to 1,561. Campos claimed easy wins in De Baca (637-346) and Guadalupe (996-364) counties.
