Elida squads split at Tucumcari

TUCUMCARI — The Elida Lady Tigers rolled to a 28-9 first-quarter lead and blasted Tucumcari 57-24 Thursday night.
Senior Adrienne Coe led three players in double figures with 15 points, while Lyndsey Smith added 14 and Kodi Armitage 11. Most of the second half was played with a running clock with Elida ahead by more than 35 points.
In boys action, the host Rattlers put five players in double figures in a 79-46 win. Elida led by a point at the quarter, but Tucumcari took control with a 29-9 second-quarter run.
Senior guard Nemie Salvador led Tucumcari’s balanced attack with 14 points. The Tigers got 16 points from freshman Wesley Gilmore and 13 from senior Dylan Radcliff.
Elida’s teams play on the road Monday against the Lovington junior varsity squads.
