Lady Tigers coast to win over Hondo

HONDO — Senior Adrienne Coe scored 18 points Saturday as Elida’s girls cruised to a 58-34 victory over Honeo.
Eleven players contributed points for the Lady Tigers (10-5), who were never seriously threatened after building a 19-4 lead at the quarter.
No one reached double figures for Hondo, which was paced by nine points from sophomore Mercedes Lopez.
A scheduled boys game was canceled earlier in the week because Hondo did not have enough players.

Friday girls
Mountainair 49, Floyd 43 —
The host Lady Mustangs (10-3) rode a 23-point first quarter to victory, pulling away after the Lady Broncos closed to within a point by the end of the third quarter.
Stacey McCoy, who had three 3-pointers, and Carmen Padilla led Mountainair with 11 points apiece. Senior Noel Carpenter took game honors with 23 points for Floyod (8-8).
On Thursday night, the Lady Broncos ran away to a 55-20 win at Lake Arthur behind 16 points from Carpenter.

Dora 76, Logan 57 — At Logan, the Lady Coyotes won a shootout featuring a pair of 30-point performances — 30 for Dora senior Kassandra Clark and 35 for Lady Longhorns senior Raynee Rachor.
Dora (6-7) led just 37-33 at halftime before pulling away. Senior D’Shawn Pettigrew supported Clark with 21 points for the Lady Coyotes.

Logan 89, Dora 58 —
The Longhorns used a pair of big quarters to beat Dora for the second time in three meetings this season.
Eleven players contributed points for the Longhorns (5-7), including six with at least nine points and four in double figures. Junior guard Drew Perez was Logan’s top scorer in the contest with 16 points.
Senior guard Travis Belcher led the Coyotes (5-11) with a season-best 20 points. Juniors Tyler Wilhoit and Brent Hays finished with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
