FTCS boys win over San Jacinto

Junior post Caleb Richards scored 23 points and senior guard Luis McCain added four 3-pointers and 20 points Tuesday night, leading four players in double figures as Faith Triumphant scored a 73-60 victory over Amarillo San Jacinto at the FTCS gym.
The Conquerors (9-3) trailed 19-13 at the quarter, but held the Patriots (19-6) to just 16 points over the middle two stanzas in opening a 14-point cushion.
Senior Eric Cathey added 14 points and junior Seth Pearson scored 13 for FTCS.
In the girls contest, San Jacinto defeated FTCS 47-16. Jessica McCain collected seven points for 15 rebounds for the Lady Conquerors, while Reshea Kelly added six points.

Fort Sumner sweeps Dora — At Dora, visiting Fort Sumner took a pair of District 3-1A victories, including a 55-54 decision in the boys contest in which the Foxes rallied from a 17-point, first-quarter deficit.
Fort Sumner (12-6, 2-1 district) trailed 20-3 after one period, but pulled close by outscoring the Coyotes 29-14 in the second stanza.
Junior Jeremy Gauna scored 23 points for the Foxes, while Dora (5-14, 0-2) got 18 points from junior Tyler Wilhoit and 16 from junior J.R. Gonzales.
The Coyotes stayed in the game by sinking 25-of-31 free throws, including 10-of-11 by Wilhoit and 7-of-8 by Gonzales.
The unbeaten Fort Sumner girls (18-0, 3-0) rolled to a 68-38 victory over the Lady Coyotes.
Fort Sumner led 23-5 at the quarter, and turned the game into a runaway with a 17-4 scoring edge in the third period. Senior twins Sandy and Kelly Fortner led the Vixens with 22 and 16 points, respectively, while senior Tobea Patterson added 12.
Dora (8-9, 0-2) was led by 16 points from senior D’Shawn Pettigrew and 11 from senior Kassandra Clark. Pettigrew converted four shots from 3-point range.
