April 13 Dora News

By Charlie Carmichael

Area residents are mowing grass, preparing flower beds and garden spots in anticipation of flowers and food fresh from their own garden.

Commodities
The Dora area commodities will be here for distribution, probably April 20.

New arrival
Little Tyler Jefferson arrived last Wednesday. He weighs a little more than 6 lb. and his parents are Clay and Danelle Woodriff of the Rogers area. He attended church on Sunday with his parents and his dad took him to join in the choir.

Baptist Children’s Home
There will be a Fashion Show on Saturday 16 at Central Baptist Church in Clovis with proceeds to go to the Baptist Children’s Home. Admission is $10 per person. See Julia Woodriff or Laverne Thetford for tickets.

Sympathy
Opal Jones passed away on Saturday morning. He and Helen lived in Dora for several years and operated the Dora Grocery. They raised their family here and a few months they moved to Golden Acres. They are greatly missed at Dora and we love and appreciate each of them.

Cathey
Our sympathy also to Joelie and Bill Cathey’s family on the death of her grandfather last week. He did not live here but Joelie has lived her for several years, ever since she and Bill married. She teaches in James school in Portales.

Tivis
Wayne Tivis’ mother passed away last week and will be greatly missed in the Portales and Clovis areas. She spent several years taking care of senior citizens and was loved by all. Wayne and Donna live in our darea and she teaches in the Elida School. She was also an aunt of Buna and Bob Cathey’s families.
