We are proud of our students at Dora for joining in the “Walk for Hope Bilbrey Fund.” Hope Bilbrey is a 3-year-old girl in the Elida-Kenna area. Her parents are Travis and Cody Bilbrey and are staying with her in the hospital. Call the school at 477-2211 or 477-2216 for information.
Mendi Bittick Thompson was carried by helicopter to the hospital in San Antonio on Monday. They think she has an intestinal blockage and have taken X-rays today (Monday).
Chip Thompson had surgery there last week but is doing fine. He was released to go home the next day after surgery.
Another former resident of Dora was buried in the Mr. Zion cemetery. He was Bill Hagar, his family came to our area in 1942 and he graduated from Dora High School in 1944 and joined the Army for a year or so and returned to marry Nola Hoffman. They moved to Carlsbad but returned to the Portales area upon retirement and have been here since. He passed away Friday in the Roosevelt General Hospital. His wife still resides here. There are four grandchildren surviving also to mourn his passing. His burial was on Monday.
Everyone is invited to a 90th birthday celebration for Grace Bates at the Victory Life Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Grace and J. B. were residents and faithful members of the Dora Baptist Church before moving to Golden Acres sometime ago.
