Manuel Ruiz Montanez, 78, of Clovis, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born June 17, 1926, in Chin, Chiu, Mexico, to Hermenijildo and Marcela Ruiz Montanez.
He married Maria Francisca Villareal 46 years ago in Muleshoe. He was a farm laborer in the Clovis and Pleasant Hill area. He was a member of the Jehovah Witness Spanish congregation.
Family members said he loved gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Adam Montanez; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Manuel Guevara (and wife, Maura), David Montanez (Beatrice) and Jimmy Montanez (Monica), all of Clovis, Robert Montanez (Anna) of Portales, Jesus Rodriguez (Leticia) of Nuevo Lorado, Mexico; three daughters, Mary Montanez, Lisa Cintas (Mark) and Leonor Rodriguez (Jose), all of Clovis; two sisters; a brother; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Nativadad Gomez and Raymundo Escarzega will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Jose and Jesus Rodriguez, Manuel Guerara, and David, Jimmy and Robert Montanez.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
