RICHARDSON, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University’s Erica Kelly and Kristen VanWettering have qualified for the 2004-05 Lone Star Conference commissioner’s honor roll in women’s tennis.
Kelly is a junior from Stockton, Calif., majoring in biology, and had a 3.25 cumulative grade point average entering the spring semester. VanWettering, a Portales High grad who also plays volleyball, is a sophomore and undecided on a major while carrying a 3.82 GPA entering the semester.
Kelly went 3-12 in singles and 6-12 in doubles for the Zias this spring, while VanWettering had a 2-15 singles mark and finished 4-10 in doubles. Both played up two positions in the spring after two players left the program during the fall semester.
The LSC’s six-person all-academic team in women’s tennis included Michelle Buekes of Midwestern State, Taylor Ivie of Cameron, Alicia Cummings of Tarleton State and Rachel Taylor, Ashley Hawk-Caperton and Holly Lindloff of Abilene Christian. Buekes was chosen the LSC women’s tennis academic player of the year.
