Two named to academic team for Zias

RICHARDSON, Texas — Junior second baseman Tracy Jordan and sophomore outfielder-designated player Danielle Flores represented Eastern New Mexico University on the 2005 Lone Star Conference South Division All-Academic softball team, released this week by the league office.
Jordan, a physical education major from Rosamond, Calif., with a 4.0 grade point average, made the all-academic team for the second consecutive year. She hit .261 with two homers in 2005, and in three seasons has a .279 batting average with 59 runs batted in.
Flores, a communicative disorders major with a 3.88 GPA from Loving, batted .311 in 40 games (37 starts) as a freshman. Injuries limited by injuries to 27 games in 2005, when she batted .276.
Three Zias redshirt freshmen made the commissioner’s honor roll, maintaining at least a 3.2 GPA through a minimum of 24 hours. They are first baseman Krystal Echavarria of Carlsbad; infielder Kristin MacRunnels of Canyon Country, Calif., and pitcher Shannon Saltclah of Farmington.
