Law enforcement officials said Thursday night no arrests have been made in connection with last week’s death of Bo Chunn, a 71-year-old rancher whose body was found at his home in the village of Causey.
Initial investigation revealed Chunn died of a single gunshot wound that came through his window, officials said. However, the crime may have occurred more than three days before his body was found last Friday.
Law enforcement officials have not revealed any possible motive in the case. Roosevelt County Sheriff Tom Gossett did not return a phone call seeking comment Thursday.
Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matt Chandler said investigators had information that Chunn was seen the afternoon of July 4, but no one saw him again until his body was found last Friday morning. A neighbor alerted police of possible foul play, officials said.
According to the dispatch report, ambulance officials reported signs of forced entry to the residence.
Investigators from the District Attorney’s office are assisting in the investigation. Prosecutor Donna Mowrer said Thursday that investigators are turning up new information on a consistent basis. Mowrer declined to elaborate.
