Football under way
Saturday found both seventh- and eighth-grade teams battling Ruidoso on Ram Field. Tuesday, the seventh-grade team will play Gattis at Yucca Field. The eighth-grade team will play at Gattis.
Volleyball nets up
Thursday found all four Portales Junior High School volleyball teams hosting Yucca. On Thursday, the seventh- and eighth-grade “A” teams will travel to Texico.
School secretary Sandy golden reminds parents who have not returned lunch and other school forms that these items need to be placed in student folders. The forms allow parental input into the educational process as well as provide needed information like emergency contacts and medical conditions. Also, the eligibility forms will be used as a measure for state and federal funding.
Attendance secretary Veronica Pena asks parents to call the school if students are going to be absent.
Student drop-off area
Principal Steve Harris thanks parents for using the drive-through area to let students out of cars. The drop-off provides a safe area for students to enter and exit cars.
Portales schools will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day. Students also receive Tuesday off, as employees will meet for in-service training.
Students and parents can use the Internet to check student schedules and grades. Last year the technology department mailed passwords to parents of each student. Parents of new students can contact the technology department at 359-0944 for assistance.
