CLOVIS — Construction on a $4 million surgical center will restart Wednesday, according to a project official.
City building inspector Pete Wilt said a new permit has been issued and some ground work has begun at the site.
The outpatient surgery center will be located at 2421 W. 21st St.
According to a City of Clovis Building Safety Department permit, the owner of the property is Llano Medical Properties, LLC.
Llano officials could not be reached for comment.
Michigan-based Wolverine Building will act as construction managers, according to company representative Kurtis Parks. They will be responsible for maintaining paperwork such as purchase orders for the new center.
“Wolverine’s role will be orchestra leader,” Parks said. “We will ensure that all local contractors are on the same page.”
Parks said the construction of the new surgical center will be good for the local economy.
“We will purchase everything we can in Clovis,” Parks said. “We are also trying to focus on using Clovis folks as sub-contractors.”
The estimated completion date of the 37,512-square-foot facility is May 2006, according to Parks.
Davtek Corp., a Clovis construction firm, will be providing “general trades work” on the project, according to employee Tony Jones.
Jones said Davtek personnel met with Wolverine Building officials last week to discuss future plans for the building.
According to Jones, general trades work consists of concrete, drywall, ceilings and framing.
Since Davtek is local, they will also be required to secure permits required for construction.
“We will be working closely with Wilt to make sure everything is in order with the city,” Jones said.
