Portales Police are investigating a home invasion robbery that was reported Saturday at 5:06 a.m, according to police call logs.
A caller in the 1100 block of North Main reported that two masked Hispanic men had beaten him over the head, stolen his wallet and his pickup truck.
Capt. Lonnie Berry of the Portales Police said that the victim had been at a party earlier in the evening and was taken home by someone else because he had been drinking. Berry said the victim recognized the two individuals who beat him as people from the party.
Berry said that the two individuals showed up at the victim’s home sometime after he had been dropped off, demanding his car keys and wallet. When he failed to turn over the keys and wallet, he was beaten over the head, said Berry.
The vehicle nor wallet had been recovered Tuesday afternoon, according to Berry, but he said they have two suspects.
“One of those suspects is in the area, the other we have not been able to locate,” said Berry, noting that no arrests had been made as of Tuesday.
