Personal safety workshops set
The Eastern New Mexico Student Affairs Office has announced a series of personal safety workshops for students, in a news release Thursday. The workshops will be conducted by members of the counseling center and local law enforcement personnel. The workshops will held at noon Friday in the Pecos room in the Campus Union Building, 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Pecos Room, 8 p.m. Monday at Eddy Hall lobby, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pecos Room, 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bernalillo Hall lobby and noon Thursday at the Pecos Room.

Ty Walker and Susan Larsen of the Counseling office (562-2211) are available to counsel anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault. The Student Affairs Office says students who need an escort after classes or when going across campus at night can call campus police at their after-hours number, 760-2945.

Anyone who has information about an assault or about a victim who may need assistance is encouraged to seek out a faculty member, staff member, or counselor, said the release.

La Casa awarded accreditation
La Casa Family Health Center has received the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Oganization’s Gold Seal of Approval for health care quality and safety.
“We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward excellence, said La Casa CEO Seferino Montano. “ Our staff has given their very best in order to achieve the desired outcome.”

The award of accreditation is for a three-year period ending 2008. La Casa Family Health Center is a nonprofit organization providing healthcare services to Roosevelt, Curry, Chaves and Lincoln counties.
