EL PASO, Texas — Junior reserve forward Chemeka Amos scored 20 points in 23 minutes on Sunday as Texas-El Paso defeated Eastern New Mexico University 96-66 in women’s exhibition basketball.
Four players scored in double figures for the Miners, with Amos (10 rebounds) and forward Kaisa Krezel (18 points, 11 rebounds) both posting double-doubles. Jonna Launiainen added 17 points off the bench, including 5-for-9 on 3-point shots.
UTEP shot 50 percent from the field in each half and outrebounded the Zias for the game 48-33. The Miners led 52-37 at halftime.
Senior Tiana Bryant shot 8-for-12 from the field and led the Zias with 17 points while junior Elizabeth Richards added 14 points, including 10-for-10 from the free throw line. ENMU shot 38 percent from the floor and was guilty of 25 turnovers.
The Zias open the regular season a week from tonight at Western New Mexico.
