Mrs. Wanda P. (Polly) Turner, 83, of Elida, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.

She was born July 28, 1922, near Louis, Okla., to Ruth S. (Cox) and William P. Jones.

She married V. L. Kellogg in September 1942.

She moved to Portales in the mid-1960s and worked as a desk clerk at the Portales Inn for several years. She married Elbert Turner on Oct. 21, 1980. The couple made their home in Elida where they operated a mechanic shop until his death. She enjoyed playing the guitar, and played for several years with a small local band known as the Southwesterners, family members said.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Bonnie Jean; a son, James Preston, and her second husband, Elbert Turner.

She is survived by a son, John T. Kellogg of Norfolk, Va., a daughter, Kathy Mangers (and husband, Paul V.) of Conway, S.C., and a half brother, Glen Wood.
