CANYON, Texas — Center Keisha Monroe led four West Texas A&M players in double figures Friday with 21 points as the 15th-ranked Lady Buffs defeated Eastern New Mexico University 76-44 in the Lone Star Conference South Division women’s opener for both teams.
WT (9-1) held the Zias (6-5) to 19 percent shooting for the game on 12-of-63, and posted a 58-36 advantage on the boards. Reserve Alicia Saunders had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
ENMU, which lost its fourth in a row, was led by 11 points and nine rebounds from senior post Tiana Bryant, but she had a tough time against the tall Lady Buffs front line and finished 3-of-17 from the field.
Despite the win, WT was forced into 27 turnovers by the Zias.
