TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State overcame an early deficit with a 12-0 run to end the first half en route to a 65-54 win over Eastern New Mexico University in a men’s Lone Star Conference crossover game Thursday at Dobbins Field House.
Bret Rubin scored 16 points off the bench for the Redmen (9-3), who shot 50 percent from the field and outrebounded ENMU 33-21.
Rubin’s 3-pointer with 2:31 left in the first half gave Northeastern its first lead at 25-23 as the Greyhounds (4-8) were held scoreless for the final 6:38 of the first half.
Sid Melvin added 13 points for Northeastern and Pat Moore chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Melvin fueled a 7-0 Redmen run early in the second half, with his 3-pointer putting Northeastern up 40-29. Eastern never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Tristan Largent led Eastern with 12 points and Mikal Monette added 10 points and five rebounds.
