Zias swept by Abilene Christian

Abilene Christian lost no more than three games in any set on Wednesday and handed Eastern New Mexico University a 9-0 loss in a season-opening women’s tennis dual at Zia Tennis Complex.

The Zias’ closest matches came 6-3, 6-2 losses by Tracy Hughes to Sarah Vucic at No. 4 singles and by Cassidy Bancks to Holly Lindloff at No. 5 singles. In an extra doubles match, junior Kristen VanWettering and freshman Tracy Hughes were beaten 9-7 by the Wildcats’ Heidi Lindloff and Allison Tedrick.

ENMU’s next action will also be at home. The Zias face Western New Mexico in a 1 p.m. dual on Feb. 17, and host Tarleton at 9 a.m. and East Central at 1 p.m. the following day.
