Elida takes doubleheader from Grady

ELIDA — Sophomore Tom Sullivan pitched a one-hitter in the opener and homered in both games on Tuesday, helping Elida sweep Grady 10-0 and 16-6.

Both games were shortened by the 10-run rule. The first game ended in the bottom of the fifth and the second contest was stopped in the sixth.

Sullivan hit a two-run homer in the first game for the Tigers (5-3). Elida also got four hits from Thomas West, including a pair of doubles.

In the second game, Austin Shrock worked the first two innings on the mound. Wes Gilmore pitched the next two innings, while Ever Verela pitching the fifth and Trenton Chenault the sixth.

Sullivan and West each had two-run homers for Elida.

The Tigers open district action next Monday, hosting Floyd in a 3 p.m. contest.
