Harvey Ray Bailey, 65, of Temple, Texas, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
He was born Aug. 12, 1940, in Newkirk to J.C. and Hattie Bailey. He was a graduate of Fort Sumner High School and the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colo.
He married Patricia Louise Lindsey on April 28, 1961, in Portales. After living in Clovis, Colorado Springs, Colo., Lewisville, Texas, and Henderson, Texas, they retired to Temple in 2005.
He was a minister for the Church of the Nazarene for 33 years.
Family members said he enjoyed Dallas Cowboys football, rodeos and his family.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirlene Cuthrell (and husband, Russ) of Shelby Township, Mich.; two sons, Todd Bailey (Tammy) of Temple and Randy Bailey (Lorri) of Pflugerville, Texas; two brothers, J.C. Bailey Jr. and Ted Bailey; three sisters, Shirley Owens, Georgia Kelly and Marie Fox; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Sheffield Funeral Home in Temple.
The Rev. Tommy Davis is officiating.
Burial will take place at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene in Temple, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sheffield Funeral Home of Temple.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.
Pearl Latta, 76, of Portales, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
She was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Portales, to Nora Estelle and Ike Rogers.
She grew up in Portales where she attended school. She married J.E. Latta Jr. on May 23, 1945, in Clovis. She attended Hedricks Beauty College in Clovis. She worked as a cosmetologist at local beauty shops for several years.
Family members said she was devoted to her family, was an excellent seamstress, and loved spending time spoiling her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Frank Rogers and Jackie Rogers; three sisters, Verma Edwards, Opal Cole and Joan Rowlands; and a grandson, R.W. Shiplett, who died as an infant.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Glenda Dudley (and husband, Dusty) of Clovis, Evelyn Shiplett (Bobby) of Portales and Nelda Cole (Bobby) of Portales; seven grandchildren, April Smith, Sherri Caudill, Tonya Osborn, Tammy Williams, Kim LeClear, Jeff Cole and Stacey Rowland; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tommy Rogers of Comanche, Texas; and two sisters, Lois Atwood of Muleshoe and Mickie Walker of Portales.
The Rev. Steve Smith will officiate
Burial will take place in Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ken Rowland, James Atwood, Carl Steffen, Mark Walker, Billy Walker and Jeff Cole.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all family members and friends.
