Richard Dassero

Services: None.

Richard D. Dassero, 55, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Monday, June 19, 2006.

He was born April 14, 1951, in Norfolk, Neb., and grew up in Colorado Springs. He attended Palmer High School and graduated from Colorado Technical University with a bachelor’s degree.

A 20-year veteran of the Air Force, he retired to Colorado Springs with the rank of chief master sergeant, having served in Thailand, England and the Netherlands.

He is survived by three daughters, Robin Dassero, Danielle Dassero and Rianne Mitchell (and husband, Callen) of Portales; a grandson, Jacob Arenas; two stepgrandsons, Shane and Kevin Mitchell; two granddaughters, Kayley and Ashley Mitchell; his mother, Dorothy; and two brothers, Michael (Sherry) and Timothy (Rhonda).

A memorial reception will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 1 in Falcon, Colo.

Arrangements are by Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services of Colorado Springs.

Monica Lucero Chavez, 90, of Turlock, Calif., died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at her home.

She was born Feb. 1, 1916, in Juan de Dios, Mexico, and lived in Turlock for 52 years. She was a homemaker and member of the Sacred Catholic Heart Church. Family members said she enjoyed raising her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reynaldo Chavez; a grandson, John Hernandez; and a granddaughter, Martha Johnson.
She is survived by 10 children, Margaret Godinez of Richmond, Calif.; Jose Manuel Chavez of Ceres, Calif.; Helen Ishihara, Gilbert Chavez, Elizabeth Morales and Rose Chavez, all of Turlock, Reynaldo Chavez Jr. of Modesto, Calif.; Victor Chavez of Omaha, Neb.; Frances Frunz of Patterson, Calif.; and Terry Chavez-Povich of Counsel Bluffs, Iowa; two sisters, Maxie Hidalgo and Ofella Rubio, both of Clovis; 30 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 19 great great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (PDT) Sunday at Allen Mortuary of Turlock. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. (PDT) Sunday at Allen Mortuary of Turlock.

Burial is Monday at Turlock Memorial Park.
