LUBBOCK — Junior transfer Nimrod Lelei finished seventh in a time of 25 minutes, 7.64 seconds to lead Eastern New Mexico University’s men to a fourth-place team showing with 82 points on Friday in the Jackrabbit Open cross country meet, hosted by Texas Tech.
The Red Raiders took the team title in the five-team event, finishing with 33 points to 44 for runnerup South Plains College. Felix Boit, like Lelei a native of Nigeria, was the Greyhounds’ second runner, coming in 13th with a time of 26:26.86.
ENMU’s women took fifth place in a seven-school field with 124 points. Tech also won that division with 20 points, with South Plains second at 92.
Mariana Chavira led the Zias, placing 16th in 19:00.96 over three miles, while teammate Stacy Salazar followed one place behind her in a time of 19:04.21.
Individual winners were were Haron Lagat for the men, running unattached, in 23:43.28 for the men and Tech’s Sally Kipyego in 15:55.31 for the women.
