Lelei and Boit lead Hounds in cross country

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Junior Nimrod Lelei and sophomore Felix Boit finished eighth and 11th, leading Eastern New Mexico University’s men to a fourth-place team finish in Saturday’s Lone Star Conference cross country meet, hosted by Tarleton State.

Lelei’s season best performance earned him All-LSC honors.

Abilene Christian posted a near-perfect score of 17, running away to its 16th consecutive LSC title. The Wildcats’ Nicodemus Naimadu ran a time of 24 minutes, 33 seconds to edge teammate Serge Gasore by one second for individual honors.
Lelei posted a time of 25:26 while Boit ran 26:16. East Central was second with 59 points, followed by Angelo State with 79 and ENMU with 100.

Abilene Christian’s women captured their sixth consecutive LSC title with 45 points to 80 for Angelo State. ENMU was fifth with 163 points. Junior Mariana Chavira led the Zias, placing 12th in 23:06, while sophomore Stacy Salazar finished 25th in 23:59.

Abilene Christian’s Loice Cheboi took individual honors, posting a time of 21:38.
