Elementary schools host Dulabaum
Portales Elementary Schools will present Gary Dulabaum in a family concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Eastern New Mexico University Theater. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Singer, songwriter, comedian and poet Dulabaum tours nationally. He will be working with Portales elementary school students during the day, teaching them about music and creating original songs that will be performed in the concert.

Sexual assault awareness seminar set
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners office of the 9th Judicial District and the Eastern New Mexico University Office of Student Activities will present “It’s My Life … It’s Now or Never,” a seminar on sexual assault awareness and prevention. The free seminar will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ground Zero in the Campus Union Building at ENMU.

Besides speakers and safety tips, instructor Steve Blakeley of Portales will teach techniques for self-defense.

The first 100 people will receive a free whistle and flashlight key chain.

ENMU grad to address library friends
Nerissa Custer, an Eastern New Mexico University graduate who spent 2002-2004 in Africa with the Peace Corps, will present the program at the Friends of the Portales Public Library meeting at noon Thursday in the library meeting room at 218 S. Ave. B.

Custer plans to show slides and speak about her time in the Peace Corps doing HIV/AIDS awareness education in Ghana.

The meeting is a brown bag lunch and will include a brief business meeting. The public is welcome.
