Dairy worker killed in vehicle rollover

A 25-year-old Portales dairy worker died in the early morning hours Friday after his pickup truck rolled over on State Road 206 about seven miles south of Portales, according to officials.

Javier H. Ramirez was traveling south shortly after 1 a.m. when he lost control of his truck attempting to pass another vehicle, a New Mexico State Police news release said. The pickup re-entered the southbound lane and traveled off the west edge of the road, the release said. Ramirez was ejected from the truck after it overturned three times, according to the news release.

Ramirez was transported to Roosevelt General Hospital, where he died.

Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.

He is survived by his father, Jose Ramirez, and four brothers and four sisters, according to his obituary.
