• Gov. and Mrs. John Burroughs returned to Portales from Santa Fe to cast their votes in the Democratic Primary election. The first family made their way through Portales along with close to 100 cars, bands and horses. Upon arrival at to the Eastern New Mexico University campus, the couple cast their votes in the Roosevelt County Museum.
• Residents in the area were reporting that a pack of wild dogs were attacking and killing livestock.
• Pork steak was on sale at Thriftway for 45 cents a pound.
