ENMU softball player honored by ESPN magazine

Eastern New Mexico University senior right fielder Kelsey Kubik has been chosen to the second-team All-District VI squad by ESPN The Magazine for her efforts in softball and in the classroom.
Kubik, a health and physical education major from Tucson, Ariz., batted .325 with three home runs and 31 RBIs in 2007 and is the 11th Zias player chosen to the squad in nine years. She hit .439 in 2006 after transferring from Pima (Ariz.) Community College, and her two-year average of .382 ranks fourth in the program’s history.
To be eligible, players had to be a starter or key reserve for their teams and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. District VI includes colleges and universities in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missisippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Boit earns All-LSC track honor
RICHARDSON, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University junior Felix Boit, the Lone Star Conference men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase champion, was selected to the All-LSC track team for his accomplishment.
Boit ran the event in a career-best 9 minutes, 50.20 seconds last weekend at Commerce, Texas, beating the runnerup by nine seconds.
Abilene Christian and Angelo State, which went 1-2 in men’s and women’s competition, dominated the selections with a combined 19 of 23 men’s and 23 of 28 women’s selection.
