Portales Women’s Club
Portales Woman’s Club met Wednesday with 31 members and four guests present.

Sasha Parker was introduced by the Education/Scholarship Committee as the GFWC New Mexico State Scholarship winner, as well as the Portales Woman’s Club scholarship winner. At the recent state convention she received a four-year Harriett Donohoo/Dorothy Pendleton Scholarship.

Also introduced was the club’s HOBY honoree, Amber McCasland. Both students attend Portales High School.

It was reported that the club netted approximately $2,000 from the third annual Women’s Day Out. This money is used for community projects and heritage revitalization.

The club voted to nominate Lois Crozier to run for treasurer of South Central Conference.

President June Ferguson presented gifts to her committee chairs and members of the executive board. Carol Hardin, hospitality chair, presented Ferguson with an engraved locket in honor of her year as president.

New officers were installed are: President, Robin Wells; first vice president, Della Kobernick; second vice president, Betsy Chavez; third vice president, Jennifer Saiz; recording secretary, Patrice Tompkins; corresponding secretary, Amie Franz; and treasurer, Doncella Caywood.
