A. Managing a gift store

Q. What is a typical day on the job like?
A. Come in and open the store, help customers, receive freight, order merchandise and close down.

Q. Why did you choose this profession?
A. Just basically to do something different. We felt like Portales needed a unique gift store with the unusual hours.

Q. What type, if any, training do you need for your job?
A. I’ve had no training, not in retail, just the bookkeeping training.

Q. What do you enjoy most about your job?
A. Actually just being able to come to work and visit with people, and the freedom and flexibility.
