Job: Volunteer in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at the Community Services Center.
Time on the Job: Bettina has been a volunteer for various programs in the community for many years.
Background: Retired as the dean of the College of Technology at Eastern New Mexico University in 1982.
Q. Describe what your volunteer work entails?
A. Visiting the elderly at home, in the nursing homes and the hospitals. Assisting at the CSC meal site as cashier one day a week.
Q. What is a typical day like for you?
A. Nothing exciting
Q. Why did you chose to volunteer?
A. I like to volunteer. It keeps me active, visiting with people that I know need visitors. I meet a lot of people here and I like interacting.
Q. Do you need any type of training for your volunteer programs?
A. Mostly on-the-job training. Volunteers do participate in training programs, lectures and guest speaker presentations.
Q. What do you enjoy most about your volunteer work?
A. I like interacting with the elderly because I’m one of them. They need somebody to talk to and listen to them.
