Elida beats Tucumcari

PNT Staff Report

The Elida Lady Tigers swept Tucumcari in three games at home Thursday to remain perfect in early-season play at 5-0.

Elida made quick work of the visiting Lady Rattlers with scores of 25-6, 25-6 and 25-15.

Elida coach Darrell Chenault said the young Lady Tigers, with just one senior in their ranks, rested their success on the strength of their serves.

“We served the ball really well tonight,” Chenault said.

By the third game, Chenault said he was able to mix things up a little in the lineup and get some playing time for his bench. In doing so, he said his team let up a little more than he would have liked.

“Right now we’re just working hard and getting some experience,” Chenault said. “They keep getting better and better and they’re excited. If that continues we should be all right.”

Elida continues the homestand Saturday as it hosts Clovis Christian.
