A new doctor and a new director of cardiopulmonary services were introduced at Tuesday’s monthly Roosevelt General Hospital Board meeting.
Monica Panwar will specialize in internal medicine and infectious diseases while Alex Wynn replaces John Bridges director of cardiopulmonary services. Bridges was appointed Portales Fire Department chief.
Also, Doyle Potter was appointed to the permanent position of pharmacist.
Hospital Administrator James D’Agostino also announced a surprise inspection in the pharmacy department revealed there were no deficiencies in the department.
“We got a very, very good report,” D’Agostino said.
During the meeting, a proclamation was approved concerning the upcoming hospital board elections for districts 3 and 4.
According to Roosevelt County Clerk Janet Collins, three people have filed for the two positions.
Fred Anthony will run unopposed in District 4, while Boyd Evans and Margaret (Peggy) Davis filed for District 3, she said.
In other business:
• The board approved the purchase of a nuclear medicine camera
• There were 762 patients seen in the emergency room in August, of which 74 were admitted to the hospital and 45 transferred to another facility;
• The medical surgical unit admitted 98 patients in August
• Two patients were admitted to the intensive care unit in August.
