• Roosevelt County youth Kent Allison of Portales and Dwayne Chenault of Elida, sold their winning livestock in the Junior Livestock Sale at the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque. Allison sold his grand champion market lamb for $13 a pound, for a grand total of $1,209, and Chenault sold his grand champion Duroc barrow for $11 a pound for a grand total of $2,409.
• Three thousand students and residents attended a concert at the Eastern New Mexico University P.E. Complex featuring First Edition, a popular folk rock group.
• A three quart electric popcorn maker was on sale for $3.49 at Trader Charlie Horns Surplus City.
