Hunter education offered
There will be registration and orientation for persons interested in hunter education classes from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Jake Lopez Building at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds. The classes are sponsored by the New Mexico Game and Fish Department and Roosevelt County Cooperative Extension Service, according to a news release.
Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Those wishing to register should be at least 11 and accompanied by an adult. Bring a copy of your birth certificate to register. Cost is $5.

La Escalera to meet
La Escalera Art Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Roosevelt County Electric Cooperative Hospitality Room, 121 N. Main in Portales, according to a news release.
Guest artist is Bobby Weed of Friona, Texas with a watercolor demonstration.
Guests are welcome.

AARP chapter to meet
The Roosevelt County AARP chapter 4301 will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Services Center, according to a news release. A board meeting will precede the general meeting at 1:30 p.m.
Jackie Lara with VistaCare hospice will present the program on the services the hospice offers.
