Background: Currently Gonzales is a sophomore at Eastern New Mexico University, majoring in Biology with an emphasis on pre-med and a minor in Spanish. In the past she has worked for the New Mexico Department of Transportation, the Santa Fe County Clerk’s office and the business office at ENMU.
Q. Describe what your job entails?
A. Answering phones, I assist people, I help make visitor and relocation packages. I basically do whatever Sharon wants me to do.
Q. What is a typical day on the job like for you?
A. Lately I have had mid-terms and then coming to work. I have been putting together visitor bags, answering phones and putting together programs for the quilt festival.
Q. Why did you choose this job?
A. It would look good on a resume and I like being involved in the city. Community service and other things I find out about are very useful to my resume.
Q. What type of training do you need for your job?
A. They showed me how to transfer and use the phones correctly, how to use the copy machines, what to say when answering the phone, what information goes in what packages. As the job progresses you learn different stuff from everybody.
Q. What do you enjoy most about your job?
A. I enjoy that this job is fairly easy. It allows me to get my homework done. I get to meet different people and I get to be involved in city activities. I really like this job.
