Oldknow addresses class
The senior English class heard a presentation by Antony Oldknow, Professor of English at Eastern New Mexico University, about the Anglo-Saxon epic poem, Beowulf recently.
Oldknow, a native of Peterborough, England, grew up around the area known as the Fens where the classic takes place. He read aloud a portion in Old English demonstrating the Germanic origins of the English language, and shared some of his own translation that he says is more precise than some of the other versions.
Oldknow is the author of many books, including The Passion Play and Other Ghost Stories (2006) from Ash Tree Press.
