Family Fun Night
Principal Steve Harris said he appreciates the parents and students who came to the family night Nov. 30. Parents and their children were able to participate in activities relating to students’ classes.

MAPS assessment completed
Students have completed the second quarter of the MAPS test. Data lets teachers evaluate student growth, strengths, and weaknesses so they can adjust teaching to help student get the most from their education at Portales Junior High.

Semester and nine-weeks tests
Tuesday and Wednesday students will take their second quarter tests in all classes. Their semester tests will be Thursday and Friday. Tutoring is available to all students Monday through Thursday either before or after school.

Early release announced
On Dec. 19 buses will run at 1 p.m. to take students home for the beginning of winter break. Teachers report Jan. 7 for in-service, and students return Jan. 8.

Basketball
Six games this week finish the 2007 basketball season. Monday the Lady Ram seventh and eighth grade “A” teams host Yucca. Tuesday the seventh grade “B” team heads to Elida to face their girls team. The boys seventh and eighth grade “A” teams travel to Clovis to play Yucca on Monday. Then Tuesday the boys “B” team plays Elida there. The 2008 games begin the week school resumes facing Texico and Ruidoso.
