Domenici staffer in Portales
Staff members from U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici’s office will be at the Portales Public Library from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, according to a press release.

The release said that anyone experiencing difficulty with a federal agency who would like Domenici’s assistance is welcome to visit with staff members. Staff will also be available to convey opinions to the senator as well.

Co-op offers scholarships
Roosevelt County Rural Telephone Cooperative recently sent applications to area school counselors for $500 Education Foundation Scholarships for high school seniors, according to a RCRTC press release.

Scholarships are for one year and subject to grade-point and enrollment requirements for full-time students. They are available to members living within the RCRTC service area and receiving service from the co-op and their immediate families.

Deadline: Feb. 8, 2008.

PHS to hold concert today
The Portales High School band and concert students will hold their Winter Concert at 2 p.m. today at the PHS Performing Arts Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

In addition, students will be accepting donations of prepaid phone cards which will be sent to U.S. troops stationed overseas. Those attending may also make a voluntary donation to help the promotion with shipping costs or in purchasing more cards, according to PHS Choir Director Franklin Smith.
