Library has programs for all ages
There are activities for children of all ages at the Portales Public Library.
Baby Lapsit meets twice a month at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and is for ages 1-3. This week’s theme is “Gitchy-Gitchy-Goo Tickle Time,” and will include approximately 20 minutes of stories, songs.
Preschool Storytime is 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. every Wednesday. This week’s subject is Chinese New Year.
At 5 p.m. Thursday there will be a meeting of S.T.A.R. (Some Teens Are Reading), for teens in grades 6-12. This week teens will be learning how to write a book review. Participants should bring writing materials and a favorite book to review. Finished reviews will be posted on the library’s teen blog.
All programs at Portales Public Library are open and free to the public.
MHR holding Valentine fundraiser
Mental Health Resources staff and volunteers are holding a fundraiser in conjunction with the Valentine’s Day holiday to help fund its day treatment program which assists mentally ill adults maintain stability and become active members of the community.
The fundraiser will offer a variety of Valentine packages for delivery to a sweetheart inside the Portales city limits. The packages, ranging from $5 to $40 include bouquets, candy and cards. Last day to order is Sunday.
