Passover Seder planned

A newly-formed Sabbath Bible Discussion Group will host a Passover Seder meal and celebration at 7 p.m. today at the Wesley Foundation student center at 1417 S. Avenue K in Portales.

This year, Passover begins at sundown on Saturday.

According to tradition, the Passover Seder is a Jewish ritual feast held to commemorate the story of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt and to give praise and thanksgiving for God’s deliverance and freedom.

The Sabbath Bible Discussion Group will be taught every other Friday by Frederico “Rico” Rosendo, who is a Messianic Jew. Admission is free.
Information: 356-6721.

Grief support group begins

A new grief recovery support group is being formed in Portales, which is modeled after the national GriefShare program.

GriefShare is a nondenominational group that features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics for anyone who has experienced grief or the loss of a loved one, said the Rev. Kenneth Broad, who will facilitate the group meetings.

Anyone who wants to come to the meetings is welcome and participants do not have to be associated with any church, Broad said.
