Police seek sign thief


The Portales Police Department is investigating the recent theft of political signs from various locations in the community, according to a PPD press release.

The theft of these signs is a crime and anyone with information regarding these thefts is encouraged to report it to the police department.

Roosevelt County Crimestoppers pays cash rewards for information that may result in the arrest of individuals as well as the recovery of stolen signs.

Information reported to Crimestoppers can be confidential. The number is 356-8100.

Hounds host camp


The Eastern New Mexico University football coaching staff and players will host their annual football camp from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Greyhound practice field (next to the Greyhound Baseball Field).

The camp is free to children from kindergarten to eighth grade.
